Making the $60 Weekly Toll Cap Permanent
December 11, 2025
The NSW Government has officially made the $60 weekly toll cap permanent, providing a critical safety net for frequent commuters. Since its launch, the program has returned over $211 million to hundreds of thousands of motorists. To ensure long-term sustainability, the government is also scrapping annoying administration fees on toll notices starting in 2026 and introducing digital "unpaid toll reminders."
This reform is designed to be customer-first, ensuring that net revenue from future two-way tolling on major links directly funds this ongoing relief for families.

Landmark bill to kick e-bike clutter to the kerb
October 15, 2025
To reclaim our footpaths, the NSW Government has introduced Australian-first legislation to regulate shared e-bike operators. New powers allow Transport for NSW and local councils to set mandatory parking bays, "no-go" zones, and "go-slow" areas.
Operators who fail to meet strict standards for device maintenance and clutter management now face fines of up to $110,000. These laws balance the popularity of e-mobility with the need for public amenity, ensuring that shared bikes are a safe, organized, and helpful part of our local transport network.
Supercharging the East: 190+ EV Charging Ports
May 28, 2025
As part of a massive $41.1 million joint investment, the Eastern Suburbs are seeing a significant boost in green infrastructure with over 190 new EV charging ports being deployed.
These include cutting-edge ultra-fast chargers capable of topping up a battery from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes. These sites are designed for accessibility, featuring pull-through bays for those towing trailers or boats. Powered by 100% renewable energy, this rollout eliminates "range anxiety" and makes the Eastern Suburbs a leader in the transition to sustainable transport.
Bus Update: Changing Timetables
February 26, 2025
From Monday 3 March, we’ll be making changes to some bus services across North West and South East Sydney.
The changes support improved connections between buses, improved reliability and better meet passenger demand.
Adjustments will also be made to some school services.
New Mandatory Safety Standards for Lithium-Ion Batteries
February 19, 2025
In a nation-leading move, NSW has mandated strict safety and information standards for all e-micromobility devices. As of 2025, all e-bikes and batteries sold must meet rigorous electrical testing to prevent fire risks. Furthermore, the state is moving to cap legal e-bike power at 250 watts to ensure they remain pedal-assisted bicycles rather than unregulated motorbikes.
New "Information Standards" also require retailers to provide mandatory safety and road-rule education at the point of sale, ensuring every rider knows how to charge and operate their device safely.
Bus Update: Delivering More Reliable Bus Services for the East
January 18, 2025
Significant timetable and route adjustments have been implemented to boost reliability across the Eastern Suburbs, particularly around the Randwick and South East corridors.
Key improvements include increased frequencies on major routes. Also, we've committed to improving the Bus Transport Management system, which aims to eliminate "ghost buses" by providing 100% accurate real-time tracking. These changes ensure better connections to the Sydney Metro and Light Rail for local commuters.
